Ramadan Festivity, UNAIR Helps 1000 Orphans

UNAIR NEWS – Civitas academica of UNAIR always enlivens Ramadan every year, one of the activities was by aiding 1000 orphans of orphanages around campus or in other areas in Surabaya and Sidoarjo. If last year the activity was held in Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), this year it was on Wednesday June 29 in Ulul Azmi Mosque Campus C UNAIR.

The head of the committee of Gebyar Ramadan 1437 H, Drs. Muadib Aminan, said in his speech that the activity titled “Berbagi Kebahagiaan Bersama Anak Yatim (Share Happiness with Orphans)” was a part of UNAIR contribution, he also expressed his gratitude for other parties supporting the event.

“This activity we hold routinely is a part of all UNAIR academicians contribution, therefore I’d like to express my deepest gratitude,” he said.

Attending in the event were Vice Rector I, II and III UNAIR and all faculty officials in UNAIR. In his address Vice Rector III UNAIR, Prof. Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, Ir., M.Si., Ph.D., hoped that the event which also showed orphans reciting Qur’an would get blessings and grace from Allah SWT.

“Hopefully our fasting will be graced and accepted with this charity activity,” he said to the attendees.

From the participants, Yanti as the coordinating staff of Panti Ulul Albab, Manukan, Tandes Surabaya, suggested UNAIR to keep doing it annually. With her 50 orphans, she hoped that it will be better in the future.

“The kids are happy, good activity and alhamdulillah we’re invited by UNAIR twice,” she explained.

Similar to Yanti, one of the orphans Panti Yayasan Ibnu Sina di daerah Kertajaya, Lusi, also felt proud of being invited to UNAIR. The class 4 student also said that the money she got will be used for buying her school’s stuff.

“I’m happy to be in UNAIR, it’s my first time here, and the money can be used to buy school’s stuff,” she said.

In the occasion, KH. M. Ridwan Yasin was invited to give sermon to the attendees. In his sermon, the religious leader known as Kiai Bogang encouraged the orphans to follow The Prophet SAW deeds. Even though he was born as an orphan, he could live independent since he was young.

“Children who now live like the Prophet, being orphan, must live independent, take the Prophet as an example, hopefully you will be leaders,” he said.

In the end of the event, KH. M. Ridwan also lead the attendees to pray, for their sake and blessings of Ulul Azmi Mosque.

“Masjid Ulul Azmi, the name itself has showed patience and greatness of Ulul Azmi,” he said.
