UNAIR NEWS – On Tuesday, June 28, the result of State University Admission Joint Selection (SBMPTN) 2016 was announced. UNAIR admitted 1750 future freshmen. It was selected from 11 thousand SBMPTN applicants which chose UNAIR as the first choice.
From those 1,750 future freshmen, 293 of them were from Bidikmisi program of Kemenristek Dikti, so it was 16.7% of total frehmen admitted from SBM-PTN.
“Alhamdulillah the number of Bidikmisi awardees hopefully can accommodate financially challenged students, and they can continue their studies,” said UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. H. Mohammad Nasih, MT., SE., Ak, CMA., in his room on Tuesday afternoon, June 28.
From the result of national SBM-PTN, UNAIR even got freshmen with the highest score at social humanity. The student was Regine Wiranata, admitted in Faculty of Law UNAIR. His score was 842.69. The alumnus of SMA Cita Hati Surabaya was also included in Bidikmisi program.
While for the highest score at science and technology was admitted in ITB with 934.95. The applicant was admitted in Electro and Informatics School (STEI) ITB. The highest score at language major was admitted in Universitas Negeri malang (UM). The applicant with highest score admitted in Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNAIR was Nur Ilma Arianti, she was an alumnus of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Batam.

UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh Nasih hoped that the applicants can continue with their re-registration, to avoid things we do not expect. “Because after this there will be Independent Admission soon,” said the professor on Accounting FEB UNAIR.
While the Head of Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) UNAIR, Drs. Suko Widodo, M.Si added that the online re-registration can be done as of that Tuesday June 28. The verification process and assembly can be done after the Holiday, from July 19-20, 2016.
For students admission from Bidik Misi program, both SNMPTN and SBMPTN 2016, UNAIR has admitted 666 students or future freshmen. Regarding this matter, UNAIR Rector said that if there is another allocation for Bidik Misi awardees, it will be added through independent admission, if the government added the quota.
“Students who have applied for Bidikmisi and admitted through independent admission, it will be processed. At least if National Bidikmisi is not added, then UNAIR will give them special arrangement regarding the tuition fee. They might be in UKT I. The point is, there will be special treatment,” said Prof. Moh Nasih.
Then from 1,750 freshmen who were through SBM-PTN and admitted in UNAIR, there is still possibility for them not to re-register. They who do not re-register usually are student who are not admitted in their first choices.
“The main reason is usually because they did not admitted to their first choices, but the second and the third. They usually do not re-register because they still want to try other channel to get into their first choice,” said Prof. Moh Nasih. (*)
