UNAIR NEWS – Islamic Student Activity Unit (UKMKI) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held series of events titled “Ramadhan Mubarak Airlangga (RMA)”. The event held in Ramadhan, was featured with many activities to increase students’ spiritual experience. The Grand Opening was attended by Prof. Moch. Nasih as UNAIR Rector, routine sermons every day and special sermon on Sundays, Congregated Dawn Prayer (GSJR), salat tarawih with Palestinian Great Imam, sermon tahfidz contest, Braille Qur’an donation and closed with iftar gathering with 250 orphans, “A Day with Orphans, Dreams of the Generation” in Nuruzzaman Mosque Campus B UNAIR.
“Ramadhan this year was another challenge for the students, beside having term’s exams, we also have to maximize our service and good deeds,” said Wahyu Hidayat, as the RMA coordinator.
In the end of RMA activity, the charity for orphans was supported by Yatim Mandiri Foundation Surabaya. There was a performance of the champion of sermon and tahfidz contest and a doll theater from FKM UNAIR. The event then followed with Dusk prayer in congregation and then the charity or donation event was held. Beside UNAIR students, the event was attended too by students from ITS, STESIA, PENS, etc.
“The closing ceremony titled A Day with Orphans, Dreams of the Generation, hopefully will inspire the importance of giving. Giving will not make you feel less,” said Wahyu.
He also emphasized that after RMA ended, the free iftar activity will go on until ramadhan ends. Collected donation and charity from general public will always be channeled to congregation who needs assistance.
“Besides, Nuruzzaman Mosque will also facilitate I’tikaf session in the last ten days of ramadhan,” he said. (*)
