UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga does not stop serving the community. One of them is by holding a workshop for orphanages management in Surabaya. “Pelatihan Manajemen dan Teknik Konseling Bagi Pengasuh Panti Asuhan Kota Surabaya Workshop on Management and Counseling Techniques for Orphanage Management in Surabaya)” was held in collaboration with Institute of Community Service, Education, Training, and Development (LP4M) UNAIR and Board of Islamic Orphanage Cooperation Surabaya (BKSPAIS) in Kahuripan hall 300, on Saturday, June 4.

The workshop was attended by more than 80 Islamic orphanages in Surabaya. There were two sessions. First, a presentation on Human Resources Management by Dr. Sri Hidanah, M.S., Ir., and the second was a presentation on counseling techniques by Atika Dian Ariana, S.Psi. In every session there was a discussion session between the participants and the speakers.

“We hope this workshop we held with LP4M UNAIR can provide some insights to the orphanages’ management so they can manage their human resources better,” said Gunawan as the representative of BKSPAIS.

The participants’ enthusiasm can be shown from many questions they asked to the speakers. One of the participants explained that she participated in the workshop to get some knowledge on management and counseling in the orphanage, beside one other objective.

“I hope there is some kind of cooperation between UNAIR and orphanages in Surabaya, we are having a cooperation with the lecturers through a workshop. We hope there will be cooperation with the students, either in a form of study groups, or other community services,” said Emira, one of the participants from Yayasan Peduli Umat Al- Uswah. (*)
