Bone Screw Hampers Bacterial Growth
Five students of Biomedical Engineering Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has made anti bacterial bone screw. With chitosan coating, the screw can hamper Staphylococcus aureus growth around the wound. Imroatus, Andini, Nurul, Bagus, and Rhisma said that its excellence is that it is biodegradable as the bone is fixated. The research started from a broken bone case which was treated with internal bone fixation with screws and plate made of metal, platina and stainless steel. This biodegradable screw has some characteristics, non-toxic, biocompatible, biodegradable, easy synthesis and improve the mechanical characteristic.

Provide Scholarship reaching Rp 4.5 Billion
PLN Disjatim supported education and Islamic schools through LAZIS (Lembaga Amil Zakat, Infaq, dan Shodaqoh) program. Through Smart Light Program, PLN Disjatim provided Rp 4.5 billion of scholarships for 20 students in ITS, Universitas Airlangga, UIN Sunan Ampel, and Universitas Brawijaya Malang. All qualified students receives Rp 5 million a year. Maximum scholarships are four years. The students have to meet some requirements, such as stable GPA (IPK) each semester.
