UNAIR NEWS – In the admission process of SMP and SMA students, Education Agency Surabaya through Student Admission (PPDB) always uses Academic Potential Test (TPA) in the selection process. As quoted from www.ppdbsurabaya.net, various questions are given to the test-takers, such as rationalization test, comprehension test, and reasoning test which are considered important for the students’ success at schools of formal education.
For the last three years, Faculty of Psychology UNAIR committed to perform its task as the organizer and operator of this Academic Potential Test (TPA). This year, FPsi is still trusted to do those tasks.
Regarding this appointment, there are rumours developing in the public related to trainings held related to the TPA. As the public relations of TPA 2016, Margaretha, S.Psi., P.G.Dip.Psych., M.Sc, said that FPsi does not have any cooperation with other parties in making the Try Out tests.
“Facuty of Psychology Universitas Airlangga committed to do the task given, and never performed or provided TPA training whatsoever,” said Margaretha. “We never cooperated with any parties to make TPA Try Outs,” she added.
To deal with the rumours spread in public, Margaretha said that if a certain party provided TPA practice, than it was not on behalf of UNAIR.
“It should be understood that if you know anyone who provided TPA preparation practice, then it is surely not a part of Facuty of Psychology Universitas Airlangga,” she said. “If there is an outside party holding a test preparation, then we had agreed that it will be held otside UNAIR,” she added.
Similar to Margaretha, UNAIR Rector, Dr. M. Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak, hoped that the party which held the test preparation to inform this to the participants of TPA practice. “We implore the related institution to inform the participants, especially the parents that the try outs held were not connected with UNAIR,” he said.
