UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga Hospital (RS UNAIR) has every reason to proud. Hospital Accreditasion Committee (KARD) on Tuesday, June 7 has released UNAIR hospital’s accreditation result. Based on the decree dated May 17, UNAIR Hospital is fully accredited.

Prof. Dr. Nasronudin, dr., Sp.PD., K-PTI, as the Director of UNAIR Hospital thanked to the team which had worked on this accreditation. The preparation was made for three months. Generally accreditation preparation is made at least two years ahead.

“With this full accreditation, we’re going to upgrade UNAIR Hospital status from Type C to Type B. And then upgrade it again to be education hospital,” said Prof. Nasron.

There are four levels of KARS accreditations based on 2012 accreditation system version, basic, medium, major and full accreditation. To achieve full accreditation, a hospital has to pass 15 working units assessment, such as service access and continuity, drugs management, patients and their families’ education, and patients’ safety.

UNAIR Hospital Vice Director on Medical Supports,  Dr. Imam Subadi, dr., Sp.KFR, who was with Prof. Nasron, explained that the accreditation is effective until May 16, 2019. As planned, every year there will be re-accreditation by the surveyors to assure the quality and implementation.

UNAIR Hospital, Nursing manager, Purwaningsih, S.Kep., M.Kes,also provided information on the human resources’ work system. For the accreditation, the coordination was top down and bottom up. All commands from the leadership were continued to the subordinates and ideas or inputs from the bottom were given to the high officials. This flow has made the achievement possible. Cooperation of 500 personnel became a great strength so the short preparation made was a success.

“The accreditation was expected not as merely visitation and stopped. But there’s continuity in the implementation so the healthcare service given to the people will be better and improved as it was the real objective of accreditation,” said Purwaningsih. (*)
