UNAIR NEWS – About 195 students of Islamic Economy, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) have been in competition to run their creative ideas in an entrepreneurship projects. This creative idea was from Entrepreneurship class taught by Luthfi Nur Rosyidi, S.E., M.M., and team. There are three categories to choose from for the ideas, event-preneur, sociopreneur, or purely commercial entrepreneur.
One of the teams was Beauty-preneur Organizer team, an event organizer on beauty field. The team was lead by Devi Arum Saputri, Aisyah Amini, Hasta Kurnia Prawira and Ikhlasul Amal Rizki Aziz. They were students of Islamic Economy Class 2013.
“Last year Islamic Economy Entrepreneurship class was reaching Rp 365 million for the turnover of all businesses in a semester. It means the average team was Rp 13.5 million. This year we are targeting Rp 800 million for total projects run by 39 teams,” said Nurhayati.
In running her business, Nurhayati and her team conducting workshops, talk shows, trainings, competitions and social service on beauty. There were two offered events. Regular event held monthly and Spectacular event held on special occasions only.
As a part of Surabaya 723rd Anniversary celebration, Beauty-preneur Organizer held a workshop called “Ayo Ayu” held in Putat Jaya, the area which was used to be prostitution area.
“We’d like to educate the inhabitants to know business which pursuant to their passion. It was a way to show Indonesian women potentials, especially the women in ex-prostitution area Dolly which now called Putat Jaya.
Nurhayati said that this event was held to show business, expertise and women life pattern change in ex-prostitution area Dolly. It was done to make the women more productive and hone their skill with their expertise, especially on business.
In conducting “Ayo Ayu” workshop, Beauty-preneur Organizer team collaborated with Wardah Cosmetics, Butik Karita Muslim Square, Klinik kecantikan Emdee Skin Clinic, Kemayu Agency Model, Komunitas Hijabers Mom Community Surabaya, Radio Suara Muslim Surabaya, and Putat Jaya Officials.
“We’d like to explore and channel the women interest in ex Dolly by knowing their potentials in business. We also wanted to share knowledge and information about beauty business, Furthermore, we want to share knowledge on beauty business, health and other things,” said Nurhayati.
As of now, business run by Nurhayati’s and team was still ongoing. From the expected turnover at Rp 15 million, they reached Rp 22 million.
“Hopefully from the business, it will gives hope. It will cause the students to be hardworking and determined. Hopefully from this Entrepreneurship and Islamic business class, students can improve their creativity in business and dare to reach the target,” said Nurhayati. (*)
