UNAIR NEWS – Having opportunities to study abroad is not easy, with more requirements to meet, language can also be a problem. It was stated Mia Hernawati, A.Md., in her visit for presenting Kumamoto University program, at Kahuripan Hall, Management UNAIR on Friday, May 27.

“If you want to study abroad then you have to master English. It is indeed difficult as it is competitive,” said Kumamoto University Liaison Officer.

There were many program offered by Kumamoto University. Mia said that the most appropriate program for Indonesian student were short-term exchange for 6 to 12 months for bachelor, master, and doctoral. There was also summer program and spring program.

In the occasion, Mia who  has visited Kumamoto University twice, introduced the programs of the campus which was established in 1949 to Indonesian students who want to study in Japan. She said that the requirements for the program were not easy.

“The requirements, GPA must be above 3.0 and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language,- red) score must be above 500 points,” she said.

But this requirements were no longer problems for Indonesian students as the Indonesian students who are in Kumamoto University in any programs are the third highest after China and South Korea.

“Our friends who are there studying there now are about 70 people, so you don’t have to worry because there are many friends who were there earlier to join programs in Kumamoto,” said Mia.

In the end of the presentation, she hoped that there will be more students studying abroad especially in Kumamoto University. “If some of you either lecturers or students going for Kumamoto program, I hope you succeed and keep trying,” said Mia ending her presentation. (*)
