UNAIR Starts Cooperation with SKK Migas

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) commitment to reach Top 500 World University is being demonstrated through its cooperation with the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas).

SKK Migas invited ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL) to hold a guest lecture, “Synergy of Energy ExxonMobil Cepu Limited” to students of UNAIR on Wednesday, May 25. Being held in Garuda Mukti Hall, Management Office Building UNAIR, the head of SKK Migas Java, Bali, Madura and South East Nusa (Jabanusa)  Ali Mashyar with Asset Manager EMCL Paul Kent were present for the occasion to give lectures.

Head of SKK MIgas Jabanusa said that oil and gas sector is an important sector which supports other sectors in East Java. To meet the need of energy in the future, oil and gas sector should be strengthened by excellent graduates of universities, including UNAIR. According to Ali, this sector should be improved on its non-engineering resources.

“The discipline of science in UNAIR is also needed in developing oil and gas sector. We need to be improved on our non engineering resources such as communication, management, resources development and other aspects. If there is a problem with the community, our engineers will not be able to solve it. So that’s why we need you,” said Ali.

Paul Kent, oil and gas practitioner who is also a manager in EMCL, also explained to the participants the general description of the job from an oil and gas company based in Cepu. Paul explained about EMCL oil and gas production, human resources manager, also social responsibility.

Vice Rector I UNAIR, Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM, was glad on the guest lecture with SKK Migas. He was optimistic that UNAIR and SKK Migas started cooperation will give mutual advantages to both sides.

“This is our way to start cooperation with many corporations, by introducing uNAIR to SKK Migas or the other way around. So in the future there will be a signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will help quality improvement of UNAIR students, regarding their career and all. Of course to also to improve the quality of UNAIR at international competition, said Prof. Joko.

Previously, Didik Sasono Setyadi who is also Senior Manager of Formalities SKK Migas also elaborated future energy. Didik who is also an alumni of Faculty of Law UNAIR elaborated UNAIR students. (*)
