UNAIR NEWS – Crowded and full of activities, from families gathering, doing exercise, taking photos to just relaxing. That is the scene around the lake of Campus C UNAIR at weekends. Last Sunday, May 15, there were other activities, calisthenics and fun walk, held in the front yard of Management Office Building UNAIR. Hundreds of UNAIR civitas academica participated the event held by Faculty of Humanities (FIB) UNAIR. Before the fun walk, the participants were invited to try a yoga calisthenics first. The event was attended by UNAIR Rector, Vice Rectors and other officials from faculties and also staff and students of UNAIR.
“Usually we have aerobics, but today we have yoga because it is good for people who work in an office, as it was like a stretching activity and the tempo isn’t fast like aerobics or even the high impact one. The average participants were above 30 years old,” said the Dean of FIB UNAIR, Diah Ariani Arimbi, S.S., M.A., Ph.D.
“At least we contribute in disseminating healthy life style. Health is important as many diseases occur for us who are above 30 years old. It is important and it is the main thing. We disseminate healthy life style, “she said.
Diah also encourage UNAIR family to start a healthy life through a small step, by doing lots of walking. Besides decreasing pollutions, walking makes body healthier as it makes us sweat.
Diah added that FIB had a special class for yoga. It is done to give awareness and recreation centre for FIB academicians.
This event was even more crowded with traditional patrol music and drawing prizes. There was also a team of PMI for blood donor activity. Participants showed enthusiasm and followed the event until it was over. (*)
