UNAIR RADIO – Four students of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has designed a sleep improvement device. Named GL-Tech (Gas Sensing and Lavender Technology), the device was designed by Rayhan Bagir Daysani (FST/2013), Pratama Bagus Baharsyah (FST/2013), Nur Dewi Ratna Swari (FST/2013), and Mariatul Qibtiyah (FST/2014). Their idea was proposed to Student Creativity Program – Invention (PKM – KC) and it was through the funding selection from Kemenristekdikti in 2016.
GL-Tech uses steaming technique with lavender extract. It was two kinds of mechanism, by using blower to replace carbon dioxide with oxygen and then lavender extract was added to make user calm. Components used for this device were a micro controller, a dynamo and a carbon dioxide sensor and other techs.
The advantages offered by this device are low cost of energy, also lavender fragrance can provide calmness and function as mosquito repellant. (*)
