UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has received another visit from a senior high school. On Tuesday, May 10, there were 90 class X and XI students of SMA Al-Muttaqin Tasikmalaya, West Java, visiting UNAIR. With some supervising teachers, they were welcomed in Kahuripan Hall Management Office Building Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).
Representing SMA Al-Muttaqin, Tabi’in, S.Pd, said that this visiting program to universities is scheduled annually. It is done to give the students some picture on their next study at college.
“By visiting university like this, students can directly get information on the programs in the university and the admission system,” said Tabi’in.
To represent Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) UNAIR, Drs. Bambang Edy Santoso said that opportunity to be admitted in UNAIR is widely opened for anyone. Any students with excellent achievements, diligence and determination, has a good opportunity to be admitted in UNAIR.
“There are two requirements, study hard to be smart and pass the selection test. SMA Al-Muttaqin is a boarding school and full day school, the students must be diligent, therefore it is has a good opportunity to compete,” said Bambang ES when presenting “What’s in UNAIR”.
Similar to the statement, Drs. Djoko Adi Prasetyo, M.Si., who represented Student Admission Center (PPMB) added that all SMA graduates either science or social concentration, have the same rights to the admitted in UNAIR.
“UNAIR does not blacklist a school whose graduates’ performance was not very good last year. Anyone has the same right to be UNAIR student as long as they pass the admission test,” said Pak Djodi, a lecturer of FISIP UNAIR.
To answer a student question on UNAIR requirements to get scholarship in UNAIR, the supervisor of Student Regiment UNAIR said that the main requirement is academic achievement with many considerations, such as financial capability. In UNAIR there are many kinds of scholarships, some were from banking community, private companies, insurance companies, regional government and other scholarships.
Students with interests on sports or other extracurricular activities can continue their hobbies in UNAIR if they are accepted as UNAIR students such as nature adventure, scout movements, red cross, futsal, logical thinking, music and dancing, choirs, and other activities. “Sudents with hobbies like that can be facilitated in student clubs (UKM),” said Djoko Adi Prasetyo.
