UNAIR NEWS – UNAIR efforts to improve quality of its graduates are continuously conducted, from holding job fairs, job trainings to career counseling. This time, UNAIR through Career and Entrepreneurship Development Center (PKK) and Faculty of Humanities (FIB) held a seminar entitled, Successful Career in Media, on Friday April 29.
The seminar was held in Siti Parwati Hall FIB UNAIR and was opened by Vice Dean I FIB UNAIR, Puji Karyanto, S.S., M.Hum. In his address he hoped that that kind of activities could be held more regularly as FIB have potentials students for Media.
“I hope this kind of activities can be held more often in our faculty, so that FIB students can be honed well and ready to compete to face global challenges,” he said.
Accompanied by the moderator Lastiko Endi Rahmantyo, S.S., M.Hum., the Head of PPKK UNAIR, Dr. Elly Munadziroh, M.S., Drg., said that in Media industry, an individual should not only to have a career but they should be successful in their career.
“Therefore, in media sector, creativity and character to always be confident are needed,” she said.
Ir. Latif Harnoko, MBA., as the Senior Vice President Trans TV who admitted that he often gave presentation in UNAIR, explained Indonesian dynamic media history. For him, the high and low in developing media sector was itself the foundation to improve the media industry.
“In 1998, the highest viewers for a TV can reach 30% but this year only at 12%, based on this declining interests on TV, some stations chose to merge,” he said.
Harnoko also added that to be successful in media industry, characters like confident, eager to learn, adapt well and open to new challenges were needed.
“But, which is also important to have a career in media industry is hard work and work with passion, that’s the key to success,” he said.(*)
