UNAIR NEWS – With a thesis entitled “Pengaruh Pemberian Probiotik dengan Waktu Berbeda Terhadap Penurunan Amoniak dan Bahan Organik Total Media Pemeliharaan Udang Vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei) (The Effects of Probiotic Application in Different Time to Ammonia Level and Total Organic Matter in Whiteleg Shrimp Rearing)”, Vega Chirsnawati was named as the best graduate of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) UNAIR in March 2016.
Asked about her struggle finishing her thesis, the student born in Kediri on Spetember 15, 1992 had an interesting story. Her research which should lasted for 40 days was failed on the thirty-fifth day as the shrimp seeds were dead during rearing,”
“My research was about rearing, so it needed more time and energy. I had to feed the shrimp at 22.00 for 40 days,” said the student with GPA 3.69. The first child of three added that the disaster happened made her start the research all over again.
When she did the research for the second time, she was worried of the outcome, so with her friends she stayed in campus at night taking turns with friends. When there was no facility for students to spend the night and did research. “We had to stayed in campus mushala for almost a month,” said Vega.
Her sacrifice meant something, The girl keen on travelling and cooking was without any special tips and tricks to be the best graduate. She focused on her lessons, spent some time for discussion after classes, and followed internship regularly. She did only those. As a student who was active in organizations and other activities, good time management was always maintained.
”To be an activist you must be able to manage the time well and had set your priorities,” said Vega. (*)
