UNAIR NEWS – Alberta Natasia Adji has a special interest on feminism in literature. Her thesis “The Sensible Sister Goresees Everything: A Hypertextual Study in Grimm Brother’s The Worn-Out Dancing Shoes and Juliet Marillier’s Wildwood Dancing”, brought her to be best graduate with GPA 3.84. Her study for thesis was a comparative study between one of the stories of Grimm Brothers and Juliet Marillier novel.
Sensibility of women was her main focus, it is an important quality possessed by women in the world of men. Sensibility or wisdom makes women to remain calm, rational, and strong to face anything instead of merely hanging on emotion.
Graduated faster in only 3.5 years of study was an achievement by the women known as Tasia. She is now a fast track student in master program of Literature and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities UNAIR. She said that she finished her thesis only in two days, as the materials for the thesis have been prepared before.
Besides excellent academically, she is also talented non-academically. Her two novels have been published, Dante and Youth Adagio. Her career as author started when she was in senior high school. Her two short stories were published in Jawa Pos, Delman Pak Kusno and Jangan Semudah itu Menyerah.
“I love writing since I was little. But serious on it during senior high school,” she said.
She likes works of Jonathan Stroud, George R.R. Martin, J.K. Rowling, Ronald Dahl, Leila S. Chudori, Windry Ramadhina, Judy Blume, Simone Elkeles, Shannon Hale, Suzanne Collins, Anthony Doerr, Juliet Marillier, and C.S. Lewis. Besides fantasy, she is also keen on feminism. Now, the woman who likes reading, browsing and watching movies is also teaching TOEFL preparation privately.
“In the end of the day, you will walk and suffer alone for the sake of your dreams. So, make everything counts,” Tasia said. (*)
