UNAIR NEWS – For Irma Josefina Savitri, DDS, Sp.Perio, Ph.D, family is the calming harbor. At home, the woman, who likes red, gets her strength and her aspiration. How busy she is at campus, closeness to family is the main thing.
“For me, cooking with kids and making handycraft with them at home is my way to meditation from my routines,” said the lecturer of Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) who had her doctoral degree from Hiroshima University during interview last Wednesday, April 20.
The woman born on November 16, 1979 always has a busy schedule. Besides teaching, the dentist who had a postdoctoral education in The Forsyth Institute, the USA is also in the cooperation development and public relations of FKG. She is also trusted as the Head of Periodontics Functional Service Unit in the Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM). The wife of Udijanto Tedjosasongko is also in International Education Program team (PPI) under the Education Directorate UNAIR.
Working in a team and organization is inseparable from the life of the former activist. Being in public Relations FKG in 2016 was a new thing for her. Public Relations (Humas), said the mother of Amanda Sachiko Tedjosasongko and Ahmad Rizky Yukio Tedjosasongko, has an important roles for promotion and information source to the public.
There are four domains in information traffic managed by Humas FKG, students, FKG lecturers, alumni and the public (either UNAIR or general one).
Maximized media for public relations such as UNAIR websites, FKG UNAIR prospectus, television, radio and many social media. “Being a staff of Humas is another way of providing service to public,” said the woman who is keen on travelling, cross stitching and cleaning up at home.
Don’t put off works
If we have so many responsibilities, how can we manage our time and be consistent? Irma said that it all depends on the mind set. If it was managed well, everything will be easier.
“I’m sure, all things I achieved were opportunities to be useful to others. My job as educator, researcher, and managerial staff is my passion. They key is stay open minded and excited to new things,” she said.
The woman who is afraid of butterflies said that family (parents, husband and children) always have essential roles behind a woman’s success. That is what she feels.
On the other hand, commitment to be a discipline individual is a determining factor to success. “I never put off my works. I try to finish all of them at once, as fast and as best as possible,” she said.
Technology assistance such as computer and smartphone should be optimized. The habit of organizing schedule in a neat and thinking conceptually and prioritizing solutions is indispensable.
All of those will help someone to simplify and finish their jobs. “But, clearly, everything I do will be meaningless without the team’s support and direction of the Head of the Department and all officials in FKG,” she said.
Keeps Conducting Research
The woman who likes learning History keeps conducting research. Even, some of her researches were published in International Journals. At leat from 2014 to 2015, there are three of her researches were published internationally.
They were “miR-584 Expressed in Human Gingival Epithelial Cells is Induced by Porphyromonas Gingivalis Stimulation and Regulates Interleukin-8 Production via Lactoferrin Receptor” ,” Irsogladine maleate inhibits Porphyromonas gingivalismediated expression of tolllike receptor 2 and interleukin-8 in human gingival epithelial cells” and “The differential expression of mgl mRNA by Porphyromonas gingivalis affects the production of methyl mercaptan”.
“My research field is preventive medicine for periodontal diseases. Until now I am still involved in preventive medicine research with Japanese researchers,” she said.
The graduate of Dentistry UNAIR in 2004 hoped that FKG can be a research-based, innovative, well organized and positive thinking educational institution. (*)
