UNAIR NEWS – University is one of the institutions which also have their role in inseminating and spreading the effort in state defense. Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Student Regiment (MENWA) is one of the units in Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) which facilitates it. UKM MENWA is a part of the national defense system with its important and strategic role as the ambassador of state defense in university.
UKM MENWA held a structural transfer of MENWA UNAIR Unit Commander on Saturday, April 16, in Kahuripan room, UNAIR Management Building. It marked the end of the 2015-2016 term, and continued by the new management 2016-2017.
The transfer was attended by UKM UNAIR coordinator, MENWA UNAIR alumni, Surabaya UKM MENWA association, 0831 Military Command (Kodim) Surabaya, also students in UKM UNAIR.
“Function of Student Regiment Unit 801 UNAIR will return to theirs before the reformation, as the dynamist and stabilizer of campus,” said Drs. Djoko Adi Prasetyo, M.Si., as the UKM MENWA supervisor during his speech in the event.
The transfer was symbolized by removing the insignia from the relieved commander, Berrytia Santoso, a student from Faculty of Fisheries and Marine 2012, and placing it to the new commander, Fachrizal Amrullah, a student of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) 2013. The proceeding ran solemnly.
Different from the previous transfer, this one had a lecture with material from three ministries, Ministry of Defense (Kemenham), Ministry of Religious Affair (Kemenag) and Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) presented by Deni Yasmara, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., Sp., Kep. MB as the 37 UKM coordinator in UNAIR.
Deni said that UKM MENWA will be the guide of state defense program implementation in UNAIR.
“Knowledge on state defense is diminishing among students, it causes some problems on radicalism and terrorism. Later, UKM MENWA will be guide and the top of the spear of state defense program in recruiting freshmen, in the effort of regeneration and dualism prevention, he said.
The need of this state defense knowledge motivates Deni to spread the cadre of MENWA in all faculties.
“As the facilitator of state defense knowledge in UNAIR, the plan is to have MENWA members at least one in each faculty. As right now, the problem of radicalism and terrorism is on the rise,” said Deni during presentation.
With many MENWA alumni coming to the event, it was the best moment to strengthen ties between the active members and the alumni. In addition, the members can also prepare to face the professional work in UNAIR. (*)
