UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Dentistry has been successfully used teleconference for some academic practices, such as for lecture, official coordination with international university and doctoral candidate interview. Faculty of Dentistry has proved itself as faculty with innovations.
The Head of Information System Unit (USI) FKG UNAIR Aqsa Sjuhada drg MKes, has had special training on teleconference in TEMDEC (Telemedicine Development Center of Asia) Kyushu University-Japan. This one-month special training was to prepare skill and ability of USI personnel to the next level. Aqsa explained that with supports of USI staff and faculty officials also active participation of the academicians, FKG is ready to be the first dentistry institution in Indonesia which utilizes teledentistry.
FKG teleconferences have been connected with some other institutions such as Hiroshima University, Tohoku University, Kyushu University, Universitas Indonesia, Kagoshima University, Harapan Kita Hospital, and many others. Aqsa also said that in the near future there will be an international seminar with many world universities through teleconference. “The teleconference seminar was the first time for FKG in Indonesia. Distance between speakers is no longer a problem. So it saves time, and cost. Transfer of knowledge from in and out of the country can be done faster and easier,” said Aqsa. (*)
