UNAIR Hospital Committed to Get Full Accreditation

UNAIR NEWS – As the commitment to be a truly teaching hospital and to implement University Tri Dharma, Universitas Airlangga Hospital (RSUA) keeps improving itself from any aspects. They are improving performance quality to get full accreditation.

For the objective of that accreditation, RSUA declared “Commitment of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety,” on Sunday, April 10 in front of Management Office Building UNAIR. The declaration was attended by high ranked officials, directors, faculty officials, heads of units and institutes and all RSUA staff, also the community around the campus.

“In order to improve the quality of hospital performance, there will be hospital accreditation. One of the requirements of the accreditation is to make a declaration on quality improvement and patients’ safety,” said Prof. Dr. Nasronudin, dr., Sp.PD-KPTI, Direktur RSUA.

In the declaration, work custom and community service custom were promoted as RSUA principle to be a model hospital. In the declaration , there was also a signing session on 2x10m banner by RSUA officials and staff, also some supervisors and community figures.

“The result of this signing will permanently be kept in RSUA. It is a part of RSUA history, so the vision to be leading hospital at national and international level can be realized,” said FK UNAIR professor.

At the moment, RSUA is predicated as Class C Hospital while Prof. Nasron said that RSUA should not be in class C. With its facilities and buildings, it deserves to be Class B Hospital.
“We hoped that we could achieve Class B so references will be higher. As a fact, there are a lot of visitors of RSUA. We’re still in Class C but the patients were qualified as Class B. We deserve to be in Class B,” he said.

Various efforts were done such as by preparing 15 chapters working groups (pokja). There are 1,218 elements of 15 chapters which should pass the assessment. The 15 groups cover leadership, admission access and patients’ service, facilities and treatments, also medical service. All of them were for full accreditation.

The accreditation will be done on May 17-19, 2016. The assessment is conducted by National Hospital Accreditation (KARS), independent body trusted by Indonesian Ministry of Health.

His unit is making efforts to improve RSUA to betterment. With the staff, he keeps making commitment to move forward. Some aspects in need of improvements were organizational structures, hospital good governance, equipment maintenance, also physical improvement in all units of service. The management also improve the mindset of staff to move accelerate accreditation. (*)
