Thesis Proposal Rejected Five Times, Esti Putri Named as FISIP Best Graduate

UNAIR NEWS – Keep moving forward. It is the principle Esti Putri Anugrah held when she worked on her thesis. She had to propose a research five times before it was finally approved. The final proposal approved was titled  ”Analisis Wacana tentang Citra Perpustakaan di Kalangan Masyarakat (Contextual Analysis on Library Image in Public) ”. It also made her named as the best graduate of FISIP for bachelor degree.

The girl born on March 2, 1994 in Tulungagung was graduated with GPA 3.94 from bachelor program of Information and Library Sciences, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).

“At first, I was unsure to study library image through contextual analysis method. But with guts, I believe I can finish the thesis if I read and learn a lot,” she said.

In her opinion, information in the internet on libraries is often looked up by the public. Therefore, the public should be literate on media in order to get the information in the internet. Furthermore, to remove bad reputation spreading, the library should make efforts to regain its reputation.

During her study, Esti spent most of her time in student organizations. She was an activist of IIP student association, Religious club FISIP UNAIR, and she was also in the editorial team of Palimpsest journal in the department of IIP, FISIP UNAIR.

In addition, she has been the first winner of a competition held by Archiving Awareness Community Forum (FKMSA). She also contributed in lecturers’ research team.

“In the research, I was assigned to interview the sources, from children to adults on public reading interest,” said Esti. (*)
