Program Improvement Importance After Accreditation

UNAIR NEWS – After accredited by assessing team of National Accreditation Board – Higher Education (BAN – PT), there are a lot of things to be improved and developed by the program which was accredited A before. According to the Head of the Communication Studies Department, Dr. Yayan Sakti Suryandaru S.Sos. M.Si., department accreditation is not about right or wrong, good or bad.

“Accreditation is actually a way to develop and observe department so it remains controlled and it can improve its capacity,” he said.

Accreditation held on Wednesday, April 6, was assessed directly by the team of Prihastiwi Utari, Ph.D., from Universitas Negeri Solo and Dr. M. Najib, M.Pd., M.lib., from Universitas Hassanuddin. For Yayan, the most important thing from the accreditation of the department was how the department makes efforts after it. He also explained some programs he was going to apply later on.

“We need to see the importance of student improvement through laboratory, wall magazine, graphic design and others related to department which are in need of improvements,” he said.

Then, the alumnus of S3 UGM also wanted a Communication Study Center which will be a reference for communication studies.

“Beside communication study center, we wanted to started S3, with Prof. Rachmah Ida and Prof. Henri Subianto in the department enable us to open a doctoral program,” he said. (*)
