UNAIR NEWS – This group of students from Faculty of Public Health (FKM) deserves appreciation. Their brilliant idea proposed to General Directorate of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti) was approved and funded as Student creativity Program (PKM). Those five students were Bian Shabri Putri Irwanto, Dion Azzuri, Nikta Bella Anastasia, and Yusnita Nur Fadhilah from Public Health Science 2015 and Chandramanda Dewi Damar from Nutrition Science 2015.
“We created an education program called DIHALALI,” said Bian about their group’s ideas.
DIHALALI stands for Diet Sehat Pasca Melahirkan (healthy diet after giving birth). It is aimed to return the ideal and healthy body after giving birth. Diet menu is adjusted with the weight, blood pressure, medical records, and other body status. So, there is different menu for one mother to another.
DIHALALI is a form of counseling and education. The target was the community in subdistrict of Mulyorejo, Surabaya. They hoped that mothers who have got the information could share their knowledge with others especially to the next generation or mothers to be around them. So, more people can get the benefit from their ideas.
“We provided information on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and tips on keeping mothers and babies healthy,” he said.
Bian and friends’ activity has been conducted since March. They have observed the venues and they should be strategic and accessible. Counseling and education has commenced. It is going to end next June.
Interestingly, in the events, UNAIR team also distributes free diet menu as proposed in the program.
In addition, they also promoted activities appropriate for mothers after giving birth such as yoga, making handycraft, gardening, and cooking healthy menu. (*)
