UNAIR NEWS – There were 84 new veterinarians conferred and oath taken by the Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Universitas Airlangga on Thursday, March 31. The ceremony was attended by UNAIR high officials and Indonesian Veterinarian Association regional East Java I.

Dean of FKH UNAIR Prof. Dr. Pudji Srianto, M.Kes., Ph.D., in his first ever conferring the graduates said that from 84 graduates, 17 of them were from Bidikmisi program and  5 of them graduated cum laude. The former head of Alumni Association (IKA) also stated that the oath they had taken was the proof of their inner calmness to perform their work as veterinarians.

“In this short period you have to be able to apply your knowledge, and this responsible as veterinarian should be carried out well and implement the oath you took,” said Prof. Pudji in his speech.

Vice Rector III UNAIR Prof. Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, Ir., M.Si., Ph.D., also gave a speech during the ceremony of 156th graduation and said that the challenges ahead are even bigger.

“The oath is an important promise, hold it tight as it will support you to perform the best in the society,” said the professor of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine UNAIR.

Sunaryo Hadi Warsito., drh., MP., as the head of the committee also gave a speech and he said that being a vet does not mean always wait for work and he suggested the graduates to start their own businesses.

“Your field is the source of money, observe more dumps, feathers, milk and meat, therefore I will be more proud if you can create your own work, make plates for others is better than take plates from them,” he said.

One of the graduates, drh. Andri Setiawan, was also had an opportunity to speak. He emphasized the importance of their readiness to go to professional world. To welcome ASEAN Economic Community, he said that vets should be able to resolve solutions in the society.

“Let us create healthy society with our efforts to look after the animals,” he said and followed by shouting FKH UNAIR jargon, “Viva Veteriner!”.
