UNAIR NEWS – After presiding graduation ceremony of UNAIR, on Saturday and Sunday, March 19-20, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. H. Mohammad Nasih, MT., SE., Ak., MCA., stopped by on a photo booth section, a new and free facility for taking photos provided by Information and Public Relations Center (PIH). The presence of number one figure in the university attracted crowds. Dozens of graduates who were there requested for photos with him.
”This is awesome, being able to take photos with Pak Rector, it’s even free of charge,” said the students happily.
PIH made the photo booth with the backgrounds of Management Office building, cultural heritage of Netherlands Indische Artsen Schools (NIAS) Faculty of Medicine UNAIR (Campus A) which reaches 103 years.
Rector visited many stands outside the building to make sure that graduation is the students’ seventh heaven. It is apart from the graduation proceedings inside the building which is expected to run solemnly without lessening its sacredness.
”Pak Rector hoped that graduation is the students’ seventh heaven, so we have to be sympathetic to the ones graduated and the ones who aren’t graduated yet,” said Drs. Sukowidodo, M.Si., Head of PIH Universitas Airlangga.
In a photo booth, an antique motorbike, a heavy-weight motorcycle, and three speech boards were provided. UNAIR Rector when asked for a picture with students picked a speech board with a note “Kalian Kapan?” which was meant to incite students spirit to catch up for being graduated.
”Here it is, I’ll hold this board, so the other will answer it soon,” said UNAIR Rector inviting laughter from other UNAIR officials with him.
For next graduation, Suko Widodo said that it will be more fun, and if it is possible, there will be a ‘traditional market’. Last graduation has given some different impressions as there were free photo booth, traditional patrol music band outside the building while inside, there was a guitarist with a violinist giving an interesting performance. This performance was presented during intermission. (*)
