Lecturers Trained to Improve KKN Quality

UNAIR NEWS – The implementation of Student Community Service Learning with Community (KKN-BBM) Universitas Airlangga is being improved. Institute of Community Service, Education, Training and Development (LP4M) and Directorate of Education of UNiversitas Airlangga held a Training of Trainer (ToT) for field supervising lecturers (DPL) of KKN-BBM. It was aimed to brief all lecturers, the old ones (93 lecturers) or the new ones (45 lecturers) from some faculties in UNAIR.

This training was held in Ijen Suites, Resort and Convention, Malang on March 18-19, 2016. It was opened by the Secretary of LP4M Dr. Sri Hidanah, Ir., MS. In her address, Sri Hidanah apologized on behalf of the institute’s head for his absence as there is other task to do. The Head of the LP4M  said that the training was for lecturers who really want to serve in guiding students in KKN-BBM.

”DPL task is to guide students in every operational task on site,” said Sri Hidanah.

The tasks were from orientation and observation of the area, supporting the social approach to the local community, being a connector of students to the executive team, government to the community, supporting creativity, managing problems and obstacles, observing, controlling, guiding and supervising the program, guiding the report composition and evaluating. So the next KKN will have more quality, innovation with maximum results.

The speakers were LP4M secretary and the coordinating committee of KKN-BBM,  Dr. Abdul Samik, drh.,MS., who presented his paper titled “Philosophy and Concept of KKN-BBM”. His elaboration emphasized the need of SOP from the survey to the withdrawal of students which should be revised from time to time.  Experienced DPL should make SOP and the new ones should focus on the sources’ explanation.

Keynote speakers invited for the training were Dr. Nyoman Anita Damayanti, drg., M.Kes which explained more about GELIAT (Healthy Pregnant Mother and Children Movement) program, Prof. Dr. Herry Agoes Hermadi, drh., M.Si presented thematic KKN, Dr. Trilas Sarjito, drh., M.Si on Observation, Scheme and Stages of KKN-BBM, Yeni Damayanti, M.Si., drh on Community Participation, and Dr. Lilis Sulistyorini, Ir., M.Kes trained the participants on Evaluation.

Vice Rector I UNAIR Prof. Dr. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM in his speech, asked KKN supervising lecturers to analyze, report and publish KKN-BBM program.

”We have to communicate with the world through composition. We have a lot of data, but only a little of them was written. A habit to write should be developed whether you like it or not,” asked Prof. Djoko Santoso. In the end, he encouraged them to work as a team and together brings UNAIR to Top 500 World Class University. (*)
