UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga Rector Prof. Dr. H. Mohammad Nasih, MT., SE., Ak., CMA with all deans of UNAIR conferred 2,292 graduates from 14 faculties and one postgraduate school. As there were too many students to be conferred, there were two days of graduation. First day, Saturday, March 19 was attended by 1,124 graduates. All proceedings were held in Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), Campus C Jl. Dr. Ir. Soekarno, Mulyorejo, Surabaya.
On the first day graduation of 2016, most graduates were from Faculty of Economics and Business, with 581 graduates, from S1 (bachelor) degree to S3 (doctoral) degree. The second faculty with most graduates was Faculty of Political and Social Science (FISIP) with 273 graduates and the third was Faculty of Medicine (FK) with 249 graduates, followed with Faculty of Law with 229 graduates and Faculty of Science and Technology with 180 graduates.
According to their educational degrees, S1 graduates still dominated with 1,605 people, then S2 (master) degree with 434 graduates and Three Year program (D3) with 211 graduates and S3 (doctoral) program with 42 graduates.
In his official address in front of thousands graduates, UNAIR Rector Prof. Moch Nasih emphasized that the graduation was not the end of their learning process. They must learn, learn and learn even more after graduated from university. There are many things to learn from, community life, working life, career and also from following studies at university.
UNAIR Rector also advised them to hold the motto “Excellence with Morality” when they are in the society. They should always dedicate, behave positively, make achievements in utilizing insights for the community, the country and the nation. Moreover, UNAIR graduates should be able to contribute and avoid making problems as contributive people are needed.
Finally, UNAIR Rector also reminded them to always love their alma mater and protect its reputation wherever they are. They can protect the reputation by giving the best works in the society.
During this graduation, there were some proceedings which were different from usual. Rector accompanied the dean congratulating every student, the prayer and Rectoral address were in the beginning part of the graduation before the graduates receiving their diplomas from the dean. (*)
