UNAIR NEWS – UNAIR team assisted Sampang flood victims all out. The team gave their maximum efforts to relieve the victims’ burden.
Rachmat Muttaqin, FISIP alumnus who used to be in Menwa elaborated that on Wednesday, March 3, five personnels left for Sampang. They headed to Madura by three motorbikes. Beside Muttaqin, there were three other members of Menwa from other faculties and a volunteer from Faculty of Psychology.
“Arrived on site, we coordinated with the local posts. They let us conduct a survey and an observation. From it we knew which area hasn’t been aided, Panggung and Paseyan,” he said.
They decided to focus on distributing supplies and cleaning up the environment. Supplies given were food, clothes, medicine and other daily needs.
On Friday, March 4, some alumni and students’ disaster response team (Mahagana) also arrived there. Mahagana is a group of students from some students clubs and exponents such as Menwa, Pramuka, KSR PMI, Wanala, Mapanza, BEM and other clubs. On Saturday evening the team left Sampang.
“It’s also a part of our jobs and social responsibilities. Our real servitude to the society,” said Muttaqin. (*)
