Three FKG Students appointed for Exchange Program to Hiroshima University

UNAIR NEWS – Three students from Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) Universitas Airlangga on Tuesday, March 1 were confirmed by Hiroshima University officials to go to Japan for short term stay in a Student Exchange 2015 program. There were four other students from other universities confirmed as exchange students.

Tele-conference from Hiroshima University was connected to four universities where the students study, facilitated by Kyushu University, Japan. Three students appointed were Amalia Ayu Zulfiana, Dita Nur Azizah, and Nurul Aisyah Rizky Putranti,all of them from FKG UNAIR (Indonesia). Four other students were Sukhontamala Phuanglerngsri (Khon Kaen University, Thailand), Bui Hoang Minh and Bui Thi My Linh (University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam), and also Chang Hung Ming from Taipei Medical Unversity, Taiwan. During the tele-conference, the seven students also presented their researches to the assessing professors.

Dean of FKG UNAIR, Dr. R. Darmawan Setijanto, drg., M.Kes., accompanied by three of his deputies, expressed his gratitude to Hiroshima University officials who accepted FKG UNAIR students in a student exchange program. He hoped that this program will be done continuously in the future.

This short term stay program ranged from 10 days to 6 months. The three students were appointed for the six month program. The long term program lasted 4 years and the FKG has sent 5 batches in total. The first batch was two students, and four following batches were each one student graduated.

According to Darmawan, they who can join this long term program has to study at FKG UNAIR for a year, so after studying for four years in Hiroshima they have to finish their profession degree to be dentists at UNAIR.

”It was all because of the content of MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) between FKG and Hiroshima University. Other than student exchange program, there are also visiting professor program, summer course, staff exchange and research collaborations,” said  Dr Darmawan accompanied by Vice Dean III  Ketut Suardita, drg., Ph.D., Sp.KG, after the tele-conference.

For staff exchange program, staff and technician of FKG UNAIR, Aqsa Syuhada Oki, is currently doing the internship program at Hiroshima University. The staff learned how to perform things he need to do as both universities will do more tele-conference for classes, medical procedure, patient surgery and so on. Even in March 11 later teleconference on tele-medicine was also scheduled and relayed by FK UNAIR . (*)
