UNAIR NEWS – SNMPTN 2016 was officially opened today. Hundreds of thousands senior high school students will compete to get into their choices of universities in Indonesia. To choose right programs, the students were encouraged to choose the ones which appropriate with their interest.

It was stated by Haryo Puntodewo, PPMB UNAIR staff in his presentation during SMAN 4 Cibinong, Bogor visit at UNAIR, Monday February 29 in Kahuripan Hall 301.

“Choose programs which appropriate with your interest. Don’t be affected by others. Parents and teachers are merely providing guidance,” he said.

In addition, he also reminded them to check the capacity and the quantity of possible competitors of the chosen programs. It will give students more opportunities to be admitted in the program.

During the visit, the students and teachers of SMAN 4 Cibinong showed enthusiasm while listening to the information on UNAIR and its admission process. Some students asked about the possibility of cross-field program. In the occasion, PPMB UNAIR let students from science class apply for social based program and vice versa.

One of the teachers, Evi Sukenti, also inquired about the possibility of unaccredited schools to be admitted at UNAIR as SMAN 4 Cibinong is a new school which graduate its first batch this year.
“That is the problem of new schools as one SNMPTN requirement is based on the alumni quantity and their marks,” said Haryo while reminding them that they must have other positive things to handle that problem.
About 270 students and teachers from SMAN 4 Cibinong visited UNAIR. Their visit to Surabaya was also caused by many students interested in studying at UNAIR.
“Many students interested in UNAIR. They are curious with PTN in Surabaya. Even being far from UNAIR, we will always bring the students here,” Evi said. (*)
