UNAIR NEWS – Competitiveness improvement is an important thing to consider in ASEAN Economic Community (MEA). Even for students, it is necessary to consider as they will compete with other countries’ human resources. In this regard, UNAIR has established Institute of Professional Certification (LSP). LSP will assure UNAIR students’ competitiveness to compete globally.
LSP UNAIR currently presided by Drs. Kartono, M.Kom is included in LSP-P1. It is a professional certification institution which certifies UNAIR students exclusively. LSP UNAIR has had its permit from National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) pursuant to ISO 17024 standards.
LSP UNAIR publicized its role to students of three-year diploma program and bachelor program of Information Systems (SI) on Monday in Room 101 Faculty of Science and Technology.
“Competence certificate in a field of study can be an important document to face MEA,” Katono said. He then explained that LSP UNAIR has had two competence schemes based on Australian standards (ICA), Information Systems Analysis and Design (ADSI) certification and Programming certification.
Kartono explained more on the flow of certification by LSP UNAIR. It includes making a request to take the test in LSP UNAIR, selecting assessors, and informing the venue of the competence test which is in UNAIR.
After the applicants know the venue (TUK) and the assessors, they will undergo the assessment (based on the scheme) with an assessor.
“The applicants will do the test for five hours for a scheme they choose,” said Drs. Eto Wuryanto DEA one of the assessors.
Applicants who do not meet all the requirements of the scheme will be automatically deemed fail or incompetent.
“Applicants of the certifications have to be ready. Hopefully after they are graduated from UNAIR, they also have certificate proving their competence in a certain field,” he said. (*)
