Department of Islamic Economics Cooperates with Media

UNAIR NEWS – Department of Islamic Economics (DES) FEB UNAIR has always been promoting Islamic economics to public. Even though the majority is Moslem, there are many still think that Islamic economics is similar with the general finance systems when in fact, Islamic economics is fundamentally different from conventional finance systems.

To educate the public on it, DES FEB UNAIR started to cooperate with various mass media, and the latest was with Radio Suara Muslim Surabaya. On Wednesday, February 10, the high officials of DES lead by Dr. Raditya Sukmana met the CEO of Radio Suara Muslim, Irwitono Soewito.

“In the future, we will cooperate with more media, in order to publicize Islamic economics and also to promote our program, Islamic Economics of FEB UNAIR,” said Raditya on the background of the cooperation.

He was glad on this cooperation as DES and radio Suara Muslim also has roles to promote Islamic values to the public. According to him, all this time there were many lecturers of DES FEB UNAIR in the media presenting Islamic Economics routinely. It proves how DES concern on the efforts of improving the society’s comprehension on economics and Islamic finance. Similar with Raditya, Irwitono welcomed well this kind of cooperation.

“Discussions on Islamic economics have been topics which were responded well by the listeners. Moreover, the session was hosted by senior lecturer such as Ustadz Suherman Rosyidi,” said Irwitono referring to senior lecturer DES FEB UNAIR, Suherman Rosyidi who has hosted routine program on Islamic economics in his radio.

The Dean of FEB UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Dian Agustia witnessing the meeting also supported DES move cooperating with media.

“Cooperating with media is very important. Not only to promote Islamic Economics program, but the lecturers presenting the study are also able to give service to the communities which was one of the Three Virtues (Tridharma) of University,” added the former Faculty of Vocations’ dean. (*)
