UNAIR NEWS –  Mushala “Kahuripan Mukti” in Management Office of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), suddenly crowded with prayers at noon on Tuesday January 26. There are even two praying sessions because the mushala cannot accommodate all of the prayers which were more than a hundred.

The prayers sudden increase was caused by MAN 1 Gresik group which at the same time was visiting UNAIR. They wanted to know UNAIR up close and about SNMPTN 2016. As their reception was at 2 p.m., they waited and prayed in the management building’s mushala.

“We deliberately came earlier because we worried about the traffic on our way here. We didn’t want to be late, that’s all,” said a student named Maisarah.

“UNAIR mosque hasn’t been used, has it, Sir?” asked Yulia, her friend in a line to wash before praying.

They both nodded when UNAIR NEWS explained that Asmaul Husna Mosque of Campus C, UNAIR is currently under construction. It is expected to be finished in April 2016 or at least in June it is fully operational. But, currently the first floor has already been used to hold Friday prayer as the floor was okay and could be used for emergency. The construction of the three-storey mosque was initiated by UNAIR Alumni.

For the time being, Kahuripan Mukti has been used by UNAIR civitas academica, the employees who work there or guests who were at the management office building.

Mushala is divided into two section, male at the front and female at the back. It is usually used for Dhuhur, Ashar, Maghrib and Isya prayer. In fasting month, there will be quick sermons after Dhuhur prayer, from the elite staff of UNAIR or a religious leader. (*)
