UNAIR NEWS – Rector Universitas Airlangga (Unair) , Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak., inducted 324 heads and secretaries of departments, and also the coordinator of new study programs. The induction was held at Garuda Mukti Hall, Management Office, on Wednesday December 30. It was attended by the Head of the Academic Senate, Vice Rector, Directors and Head of Institutes, Deans and their staff, Unair Alumni Representatives (IKA-UA).
In his official address, Unair Rector remind them the task they have to achieve together. For example, 90% of study programs should be accredited A by 2016. Also, 30% of the departments must have scientific research journals indexed at Scopus. “Let’s focus ahead, with good intentions to promote intellectual life of the nation,” Rector said.
Regarding the target, the Head of Department Forensics and Medico-legal, Faculty of Medicine, Edy Suyanto, dr., Sp.F., S.H., M.H.Kes, stated that his department has prepared some strategic steps.
“We have to improve the system first. With more qualified human resources. In DFM, we are developing the law of medicine. DFM has already gone international. We also joined DVI,” Edy said.
Boost the Publication
Dr. Mustofa Helmi Effendi, drh., DTAPH, inducted as the Head of Department Veterinary Public Health, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, said that the international journals publication target should be supported by all civitas academica.
“First, we have to motivate all departments to do researches. We remind them that the researches are not only for the results but also for the publications. If all agree, then it is not impossible,” Mustofa said. “Actually, we (member of departments) actively do researches but maybe were aren’t exposed enough. Now, we have a target to achieve, scientific researches publication. Insya Allah, we can achieve the target from the Rector Unair,” Mustofa added.
The Head of Department of Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences UNAIR, Dra. Dwi Handayani., M.Hum, said that her department is trying to improve the accreditation from B to A. “Hopefully we could do what UNAIR expected. In 2016, we hope that we can reach (the target) international journals indexed at Scopus,” Handayani said.
