Once Again, Galuh Purwaningsih Wins National Pencak Silat Competition

UNAIR NEWS – Galuh Purwaningsih, a student from Nutrition Study Program Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Universitas Airlangga won a martial arts achievement. In addition, Galuh won the first winner place in the Student / Adult Women’s Competition at 2019 Malang Pencak Silat National Championship, which was held at GOR Ken Arok Malang on June 22-23.

Besides, 2019 National Championship of Malang Pencak Silat Competition has two categories of matches: Fighter and Art. There are three class categories: Early Age class categories; Pre-Teen / Teen class categories; and Student / Adult class category.

In addition, it was the first time for Galuh brought FKM name in the competition. She also brought young athletes from state-owned schools. On that occasion, they also got quite satisfying results.

“This time I’m representing Faculty of Public Health,” Galuh said.

The event attended by 2,954 athletes and led by 84 judges or referees, with eight arena matches, she successfully won the competition through one-month training. Besides that, Galuh routinely trains young athletes at Kalisari Surabaya Elementary School.

“Moreover, students should bring the best version of themselves. Students should not only excel in the academic field but also must be able to foster achievements that can support their future, “he said.

Galuh also said that students are important for the environment and university.
